SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 19
/PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- Comcast, one of the nation's leading providers
of entertainment, information and communications products and services, today
introduced a massive expansion of Spanish-language programming in the city of
Detroit that is now delivering local consumers significantly more Spanish-language
choices than ever before. Hispanic
community leaders joined Comcast at a special luncheon at Los Galanes in
Southwest Detroit to help celebrate the company's investment in this new
programming for local Spanish-speaking consumers.
The newly enhanced tier nearly doubles
Comcast's previous local offering, now providing viewers with 55 of the
most-popular Spanish-language networks - 16 of them currently available only
through Comcast - and more than 150 choices of Hispanic On Demand programming
choices. The new programming, including
AYM Sports, Discovery en Espanol, Ecuavisa Internacional, Fox Sports Espanol,
Gran Cine, Telemundo and TV Colombia, ranges from sports and news to movies,
music and general entertainment.
Bundled with Limited Basic Cable and a
digital set-top box, this newly expanded Spanish-language programming tier is
available for just $29.95 a month to Detroit consumers.
"Comcast is committed to meeting the
diverse programming interests of all of our customers. With our latest expansion, we now offer
Spanish-speaking consumers in Detroit the most diverse and robust lineup of
sports, news and entertainment programming," said Tom Coughlin, Senior
Vice President of Comcast's Michigan Region.
"Detroit was the first community in Michigan to experience the
benefits of a nearly all-digital network, and as other communities enter the
'digital world,' our customers will be amazed by what Comcast's advanced
fiber-optic network can deliver - faster Internet speeds, more HD choices and
expanded multicultural programming."
