WASHINGTON, Sept. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Main Street Bondholders Coalition, a project of the 60 Plus Association, America’s largest center-right seniors organization representing more than 7.2 million older Americans, today launched a new radio ad in Puerto Rico featuring Carmen Jovet to highlight Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla’s ongoing campaign to violate Puerto Rico’s Constitution and stiff Puerto Rican bondholders.

Main Street Bondholders is happy to announce that Jovet, a well-known journalist and the first woman news anchor in Puerto Rico, is joining the coalition and representing fellow Puerto Rican bondholders.

“Our campaign continues forward to provide a voice for the thousands of Puerto Rican bondholders, whose livelihood is threatened by the actions of Governor Garcia Padilla. Governor Garcia Padilla’s campaign to violate the Puerto Rican Constitution by refusing to pay bondholders, even constitutionally protected bondholders, is unjust and unconstitutional,” said Matthew Kandrach, Vice President for 60 Plus Association.

The radio ad features Carmen Jovet, and urges Puerto Ricans to join the Main Street Bondholders Coalition to protect Puerto Rico’s future and credibility.

The radio ad transcript:

“Those who know me, know that all my life I have been fighting for Puerto Rico and for our people.  Recently I joined the Main Street Bondholders Coalition, supported by 60 Plus.  If you are a teacher, if you are a government employee, if you are a retired police officer, you are a bondholder.  Like you, I believed, I trusted, on the word of the Government.  I invested my savings, the savings product of decades of work, now it results that they don’t want to pay and they punish us for believing in Puerto Rico.  For the first time in our history our Government threatens of defaulting on their payment promise, violating Puerto Rico’s Constitution.  With this action our Island’s credibility and our children and grandchildren future are destroyed.  Join us and let’s take Puerto Rico forward.  Puerto Rico needs it.”

The Main Street Bondholders radio ads featuring Jovet will run in Puerto Rico throughout the week. To find out more about Main Street Bondholders or to join the coalition, visit our website: www.MainStreetBondholders.org
