Meet Doki, a new integrated animated figure (click here to access the press kit <a href="http://discoverykids.bhdm.co.uk/presskit.zip"carpeta de prensa digital). Doki is much more than the channel’s new host; he embodies the channel’s philosophy of learning and discovery.
The arrival of Doki, as well as Doki’s online component with educational and entertaining activities http://www.discoverykidsespanol.com, will not only help to further differentiate the network’s programming offerings, but will actively connect with preschoolers and their parents in a deeper and more meaningful way.
“Doki metaphorically represents the Discovery Kids audience and reinforces the entire learning experience that we look to provide. He will directly aim to inspire kids' curiosity and thirst for knowledge by becoming integrated not only as a host but also a viewer throughout our preschool programming offerings,” said Luis Silberwasser, senior vice president and general manager of Discovery Networks U.S. Hispanic Group.
Like any young child, Doki dreams of being bigger and of mastering new skills and will do so with the help of Discovery Kids en Español’s programs and specials, while at the same time helping to enrich the experience that young viewers can derive by becoming their on-air friend.
Doki is a curious explorer who, like the children watching, has an inquisitive mind and will quickly become a child’s best playmate accompanying them on incredible voyages of discovery.
Following are some of the great programming offerings that will form a part of the Discovery Kids en Español / Doki experience of fun and safe learning in 2007:
Peep: Peep is a delightful series that celebrates an active curiosity, a sense of adventure and yes sometimes even being a chicken. Well, that's how one of the characters sees it, anyway! The series features 3 birds - a chicken, a robin and a duck- as they explore a world of great wonder and mystery.
ToddWorld: ToddWorld is a refreshingly different animation series. Each episode illustrates the idea, "It's OK to be different," encouraging individuality and creativity. Imaginative story-lines center around four main characters -- Todd, his dog, Bully, his friend, Dot, and her cat, Mitzy, as they experience life in Silly City.
Hi-5: One, Two, Three, Four — Hi-5! It's hip! It's new! It's a live-action, musical series for preschoolers! Hi-5 is hosted by young and talented kids. Along with their puppet friends Jup Jup and Chatterbox, the cast of Hi-5 offers a world of songs, stories and skits that is so much fun, kids won't even realize they're learning things from logic and mathematics to visual, verbal and listening skills.
Save-Ums: Save-Ums stars a new team of little heroes ready to snap into action and rush to the aid of anyone, anywhere, anytime in need of a little saving! "A Thinking Kid's Action World", the Save-Ums action mandate is to share an adventurous curriculum with preschoolers covering the dynamic principals of cause and effect.
Harry & His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs: Harry and his Bucket full of Dinosaurs take us to places found only in the imagination of the very young, and only revealed through the exciting medium of animation. Based on the best selling books of Ian Whybrow and Adrian Reynolds, the compelling and imaginative stories are designed to take children exactly where they want to go-into the world of dinosaurs, as you've never seen it before!
Paz: Paz is a black-and-white baby penguin with yellow markings. Just like kids, Paz is excited about learning new things. He sees the world through the eyes of a preschooler. Throughout his trials, he never gives up and is always energetic, happy and full of imagination.
Animal Jam: A jungle is the setting of the ultimate preschool music and movement party for the 2-6-year old set. This live-action series has a very specific movement curriculum including dances, games and songs. The show is co-hosted by Edi the Zebra and Waffle the Cow Monkey, and features the superstar dancer Bozark the Elephant. This wild, pulsing world of rhythm and song uses real kids, puppet characters and footage of live animals in motion to challenge children to master movements and use their bodies to express creative ideas and emotions.
