NASHVILLE, Tennessee, Aug. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Inspirational author, lecturer and communicator Ismael Cala joins HarperCollins Español to present his most recent book, La vida es una piñata (‘Life is a piñata’). This time, Cala makes use of a picturesque metaphor to compare life with the ancient tradition of breaking a piñata: you never know what life could bring, yet you must face it with the proper attitude.

Ismael Cala explains in detail the piñata’s fascinating history of more than seven centuries, from its origins as an agricultural instrument, its journey from Asia to the Americas, with a stop in Europe along the way, down to its current use as a means of entertainment. In its four inspiring chapters, La vida es una piñata confronts the reader with their earliest memories of the emotions, teachings and complexes evoked by breaking a piñata.

Cala offers valuable tools to learn how to take the reins of destiny, knowing that, while the future is not written, it is built by our own determination, discipline and attitudes in life.

La vida es una piñata also includes the experiences of many of Cala’s readers who, through e-mail and social networks, have shared their views on how life is comparable to a piñata. Consequently, the text is enriched by experiences and reflections which Ismael takes and transforms into life lessons. For example, through valuable concepts illuminating the difference between needs and desires; learning to transform obstacles into opportunities, emphasizing the power of intentions and learning to broaden the threshold of merit.

The author also shares his own life experiences, from his childhood in Cuba, his youth as a professional frustrated by a future that looked bleak, and his courageous decision to emigrate. It is his own experiences that motivate the author to share what he has discovered over the course of this “piñata party” – the Cala Method of Living, which he explains in the pages of his book: “The Cala Method of Living does not look upon destiny as an uncertain future. On the contrary, it sees it as the result of the actions you take on your road. The tracks you leave with your footsteps, step by step, over the course of your path in life,” the author says.
