TAMPA, Fla.–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–Sept. 20, 2002–For the fifth consecutive time, Tampa’s “2001 Small Business of the Year”, Chitester Management Systems, Inc., has been awarded the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) contract to administer the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) training program. Founded in 1995, Chitester Management is a nationally recognized engineering and construction consulting firm providing professional expertise in construction claims analysis, claims avoidance/dispute resolution, Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling, project management, training, and continuing education seminars to contractors, engineers, architects, owners, attorneys, and insurers.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) established the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Supportive Services Program to assist minority and women owned businesses to participate successfully in state transportation projects. Chitester Management uses its expertise in the construction industry to provide one-on-one training to DBE firms in bidding, estimating, marketing, financing and bonding, and managing a business. Under this new contract, Chitester Management proposes to enhance the program by implementing a fast track mentoring initiative, which includes hands-on entrepreneurial development and a DBE University. In addition, Chitester Management has also subcontracted with DBE accounting firms to provide general accounting services to DBE firms.
As David D. Chitester, CEO and Principal, explains, “This award testifies to Chitester Management’s success in consistently exceeding the goals of the contract. The challenges increase with each contract, which means that we must continue to be more innovative. Since Florida has a 100 percent race neutral DBE program, we have dedicated our efforts to make the program more visible to prime contractors and consultants, and to remind them of their civic minded responsibility as citizens of Florida to help the state to succeed by helping its business industry to succeed.”
Ranked by the University of Florida among the State of Florida’s 100 fastest growing private companies for four consecutive years, Chitester Management has worked on projects with construction costs ranging from thousands to billions of dollars.
Chitester Management has presented its expertise at numerous association conferences, including Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), American Builders and Contractors (ABC), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), American Public Works Association (APWA), American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), and American Institute of Architects (AIA).
