AAA Offers Up to 50% Savings on Prescriptions

TAMPA, Fla.–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–Dec. 10, 2003–In an effort
to combat rising prescription drug costs, AAA has created a new Prescription
Savings Plan for members. At more than 200 pharmacies with over 52,000 locations
nationwide, AAA members can now present a AAA Prescription Savings card and
receive an average of 20 percent off the price of most prescription drugs not
covered by their insurance.

Savings will vary by drug and higher discounts (up to 50%) are available on
select generic drugs, high tech and injectable drugs through a mail offering.

“AAA Prescription Savings is not insurance and does not affect any medical
insurance plan,” said Bill Latta, vice president of member benefits. “It
simply delivers reliable savings and is good for anyone on a fixed income.”

Below are some examples of monthly savings AAA members will receive by showing
their AAA Prescription Savings card:

“AAA members who take Lipitor for their cholesterol can save approximately
$15 a month or $190 a year,” said Latta. “And, people treating arthritis
with Celebrex can save approximately $11 a month or $140 per year. For people
with no prescription drug coverage, that’s a savings that can’t be overlooked.”

This program is free to AAA members as part of their membership. Some organizations,
including AARP, charge their members a fee to participate in prescription savings

To take advantage of this program, members should obtain a AAA Prescription
Savings brochure from their local AAA office or they can download it from
Once the Prescription Savings card is filled out, members can start saving at
participating pharmacies.

Some of the participating pharmacies include Eckerd, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid
and Target as well as many other pharmacies.
