LOS ANGELES, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–March 5, 2003–Laemmle Theatres and First Run Features are pleased to announce that award-winning actor Danny Glover will introduce Estela Bravo’s long-awaited documentary on Fidel Castro “FIDEL: THE UNTOLD STORY.” The film will premiere March 7th, at 7:30 p.m. at the Fairfax Cinemas in Los Angeles, located at 7907 Beverly Blvd. and will be showing exclusively at the Fairfax Cinemas. Other celebrities and entertainment industry colleagues will be present to preview Bravo’s documentary, a project that took 10 years in the making.

Estela Bravo’s “Fidel: The Untold Story” features prominent Americans including Muhammed Ali, Ted Turner, Alice Walker, Harry Belafonte, Sydney Pollack, Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez and former and current U.S. government figures including Arthur Schlesinger, Ramsey Clark, Wayne Smith and Congressman Charles Rangel — offering a unique political and historical viewpoint on Castro and the long-standing U.S. embargo against Cuba. The film includes exclusive interviews with Fidel Castro offering a rare glimpse into his life as Bravo’s camera captures various personal and political moments with Castro swimming with bodyguards, visiting his childhood home, joking with his friend Nelson Mandela, meeting Elian Gonzalez, and celebrating his birthday with the Buena Vista Social Club. “Fidel: The Untold Story” provides a compelling new perspective of this powerful and charismatic figure.

Estela Bravo is an American documentary filmmaker who for the past forty years has divided her time between New York and Havana where her husband is a consulting professor at the Medical school. Her thirty award-winning films have focused on events throughout Latin America, Africa, the Caribbean and the U.S. and have been shown on many international television stations. At present Bravo is completing “Operation Peter Pan,” the story of 14,000 Cuban children whose parents sent them to the U.S. shortly after the triumph of the Cuban revolution. She is also working on “The Found Children of Argentina,” a sequel of her earlier film, “The Missing Children.” For further information on the film and show times, call 323-655-4010 or visit http://www.laemmle.com.
