Official introduction of Miss Universe as the International Ambassador of the Latino Commission on AIDS and details will be announced of Miss Universe’s participation in a public HIV test to raise awareness.

WHY:

With Latinos comprising 14% of the nation’s population, and over 20% of the AIDS cases, there is a health emergency in the Latino community. Miss Universe(R) will support local, regional, national and international initiatives in the areas of prevention, health education, capacity building and advocacy. The partnership between Miss Universe(R) and the Latino Commission on AIDS is expected to encourage Latinos to regularly test for HIV and help address and alleviate the stigma associated with HIV testing amongst the Latino community.
