Arturo Torres and Carlos Ruiz to Give Their Time, Share Their Knowledge of Soccer with Los Angeles-Area Kids

Hormel ‘Mi Sabor’ Soccer Clinic Allows Kids to Interact with L.A. Galaxy Stars

Los Angeles, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–August 30, 2004–L.A. Galaxy professional soccer stars Arturo Torres and Carlos Ruiz are taking some time out of their professional soccer schedule to give back to 100 Los Angeles-area youth on Sunday, September 12, 2004, on the track and field grounds of the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., during the Hormel Foods “Mi Sabor” Soccer Clinic.

Seventy-five children won the opportunity to participate in the Hormel Foods “Mi Sabor” Soccer Clinic via a sweepstakes. The children will work one-on-one with L.A. Galaxy player Arturo Torres and Carlos Ruiz as well as members of the World Youth Soccer Academy. Additional scholarships will be made available prior to the start of the clinic on Sunday morning. The Hormel Foods “Mi Sabor” Soccer Clinic will take place from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., and from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., sweepstakes winners and their families will be served a dinner, courtesy of Hormel Foods.

In addition to the Hormel Foods “Mi Sabor” Soccer Clinic, participants and spectators will be able to check out a variety of other activities and booths that will be located around the track and field grounds. These booths will include food sampling by Chef Mario Canela of El Picante Express restaurants. At Chef Canela’s station, attendees will sample such authentic Mexican foods as Cheese Tortillas with Sliced Green Pickled Jalapeños/Mushrooms and a Mexican Sausage Dish.

Additional activities will include: the Hormel Foods “Make Your Own Personal Pizza” booth, Maseca’s Mini Tamales sampling, mini-sweepstakes booths from Adidas, where attendees can win Adidas gear; participation by the Hilton Carson, where attendees can register for a weekend soccer getaway; and the Colgate-Palmolive Monster Mural Coloring Book, where attendees can join in and help paint the giant mural. Soccer enthusiasts also will enjoy the L.A. Galaxy Soccer Shuttle appearance and the Velocity Kick machine that measures the speed of a soccer kick!
