Houston, TX–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–April 12, 2007–Jimmy Wynn, one of the greatest players in Houston Astros history, will be part of the celebration of the second annual Little League Baseball International Opening Day, taking place in Houston’s Diez Park at 9 AM, Friday, April 13.
Wynn, nicknamed The Toy Cannon for his strong throwing arm, played 11 seasons with the Astros (1963-73). He finished his career in 1977 after also playing with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees. The former All-Star center fielder hit 291 home runs and twice drove in more than 100 runs in his career. His 223 homers are fourth best in Astros history.
Jimmy Wynn will be giving instruction and baseball advice and signing autographs for the Little Leaguers from Houston’s East End Little League.
