Mclean, VA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–July 10, 2007–BearingPoint, Inc. (NYSE:BE), one of the world’s largest management and technology consulting firms, today announced it has been chosen to lead the selection of a new reservation system for Mexicana Airlines.

BearingPoint will conduct interviews and surveys to understand the airline’s current processes as well as its senior executives’ desired outcomes. From this baseline, BearingPoint will then develop a set of selection criteria for reservation systems suppliers and manage the entire RFP process.

Mexicana Airlines began its operations more than 85 years ago and it is therefore the airline with the fourth longest tradition in the world. Since it was founded, the carrier has provided services and products of the highest standard geared to meet the expectations of its passengers. It was purchased from the Mexican government in 2005 by a private equity investor group.

Mexicana Airlines’ current reservation system is a legacy system, which has been highly customized over the years, making it difficult to maintain and develop. BearingPoint was hired to lead the selection process for a new system so the company can have the flexibility to modify its business processes, improve efficiency and reduce system errors to keep pace with low cost carriers that have moved into the Mexican market.

“BearingPoint was chosen for its deep airline industry experience and understanding of the complexities and importance of an integrated reservations system,” said Santiago Ontanon Alvarez, Mexicana Airlines CIO. “This project sets the groundwork for Mexicana Airlines to move from our current outdated systems and practices to best-in-class, allowing us to establish ourselves as the leading airline in Mexico and Latin America.”

“We are very excited to have been chosen by Mexicana Airlines to assist in this critical business transition,” said Jennie Cull, BearingPoint managing director. “We are confident with our deep airline operations experience, and know that our understanding of change management and current customer service best practices will enable our client to improve time-to-ticket, gate agent activities and customer service across the board.”
