Long Beach, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–May 19, 2003–Although you might not have heard of this young hero before, Bernardo de Glavez, the brilliant 30-year old Spanish General, will soon be known as one of the great leaders who helped America win the Revolutionary War.
Galvez will be the first individual honored on May 23, 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at the Renaissance Hotel, 111 E. Ocean, Long Beach, sponsored by the Hispanic American Heroes Series.
Two distinguished history buffs, Dr. Granville House, member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and Judge Robert Thonhoff, a member of the Granaderos of Galvez, have written extensively about the remarkable young general.
With the intervention of the Spanish into the American Revolution, the success of the war was assured, say the two historians. Control of the New Orleans ports of entry and the Mississippi River were the key factors, they concluded.
Bernardo de Galvez is the first historic figure to be identified in the new web site, http://www.hispanicamericanheroesseries.com.
The Hispanic American Heroes series is dedicated to promote a better understanding of the historical contributions made by Hispanics and others in the development of the United states.
