California Credit Union Announces Second Annual College Scholarship Program

Glendale, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–December 19, 2005–California Credit Union is pleased to announce the second annual college scholarship program for graduating high school seniors in Los Angeles County schools and for returning or graduating students of the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). The credit union will award $1,000 scholarships to 35 deserving students to help them defray the expenses of a college education.

Begun in 2005, the California Credit Union College Scholarship Program has been expanded by adding an additional 10 scholarships. In addition, for the first time continuing and graduating students at any of the nine Los Angeles Community Colleges now qualify for the program.

“We were so pleased with the response to last year’s inaugural scholarship program that the credit union expanded the number of scholarships by more than a third,” commented California Credit Union President/CEO Ron McDaniel. “We also opened the scholarship program to students at any of the LACCD campuses.”

Scholarships are open to any graduating high school senior in Los Angeles County or any continuing or graduating LACCD student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher that attends an accredited college or university in 2006. Students do not have to be current members of California Credit Union. Applications must be received no later than Friday, March 31, 2006. Awards will be announced in May 2006.
