San Bernardino County, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–July 6, 2007–California Speedway today announced the following changes to the Speedway staff: Mike Uhlenkamp and Matt Paye have been named as directors of communications and consumer marketing/promotions respectively. Additionally, Josh Avila has been promoted to the newly created position of Hispanic Marketing and Communications Manager.

Creating this position was the next logical step for California Speedway as we continue to elevate and enhance our Hispanic outreach and marketing efforts.”
Mike Uhlenkamp has been named to the position of Director of Communications. In his new role, he will oversee all public and media relations functions for the racetrack. Uhlenkamp joins California Speedway after spending the past year in the public relations group for Canton, Massachussetts-based footwear and apparel brand Reebok. While with Reebok, Uhlenkamp was responsible for managing the brand’s publicity efforts around its professional sports league relationships including both the NHL and NFL as well as its grassroots basketball initiatives.
Uhlenkamp returns to Southern California where he worked for nearly 10 years in professional sports in both Los Angeles and San Diego. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Uhlenkamp served as the assistant director of public relations for the Los Angeles Lakers before assuming the same role for his hometown San Diego Padres.
Matt Paye has been named to the position of Director of Consumer Marketing and Promotions. Paye will direct all advertising and promotions activities for the track. Paye previously served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for SAFEView, Inc., a document management solution company in Anaheim.
Prior to his tenure at SAFEView, Paye held various positions at RiverOne, Inc., most recently serving as the company’s Director of Marketing. While at RiverOne, Paye designed implemented and directed commercial marketing programs for the global provider of supply chain management software and services.
A graduate of Azusa Pacific University, Paye earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton.
Additionally, Josh Avila, formerly the Speedway’s Corporate Marketing Coordinator, has been promoted to Hispanic Marketing and Communications Manager. In this new role, Avila will be responsible for leading all of the Speedway’s marketing and communications efforts in managing and developing its Hispanic fan base.
