NEW YORK, July 15 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — For the seventh consecutive year, CATALINA magazine and the National Association of Latina Leaders (NALL) are looking for Latina leaders who have demonstrated groundbreaking leadership and success in their communities, at the workplace, and beyond.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the Deloitte Groundbreaking Latina Leader of the Year award and the Southwest Groundbreaking Latina Entrepreneur award.

CATALINA magazine readers, and web site visitors, are invited to nominate a groundbreaking Latina – whether it’s themselves, a friend, a colleague, or well-known Latina entrepreneur. The entry form is simple, and nominations are free. Apply online at http://www.CatalinaMagazine.com by August 28, 2008. The winner will be chosen by the National Association of Latina Leaders and the editorial staff at CATALINA, and announced in the Hispanic Heritage Month issue of CATALINA.

About the awards:

For the first time, Deloitte — the brand leader under which 165,000 dedicated professionals in independent firms throughout the world collaborate to provide audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, and tax services to selected clients — is sponsoring the “Deloitte Groundbreaking Latina Leader of the Year” award — honoring and celebrating the exceptional work and leadership skills of a Latina community leader. The award winner will receive an award, win more than $1,500 in gifts (including a Gevril watch), and a mention in CATALINA’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month issue.

Southwest Airlines — a leader in the airline industry — is sponsoring the “Southwest Groundbreaking Latina Entrepreneur of the Year” award — honoring and celebrating the exceptional work and leadership skills of a Latina entrepreneur. This award winner will receive an award, win more than $1,500 in gifts (including a Gevril watch), 2 Southwest Airline tickets, and a mention in CATALINA’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month issue.

“Southwest Airlines is a proud sponsor of CATALINA’s Latina Entrepreneur Award. As an airline that commenced with an entrepreneurial idea, we believe in great minds and great achievements, and these women are a living statement of courage and determination,” said Laura Lopez, senior specialist multicultural promotions. “We salute the Warrior Spirit each nominee has and we sponsor not only a flight but also a dream.”

Cathy Areu, publisher of CATALINA magazine, added: “I am very thankful that we can recognize Latina leaders once again during Hispanic Heritage Month thanks to the support of industry leaders Deloitte and Southwest Airlines.”

The awards are also made possible thanks to the support of Eden Foods, the oldest natural food company in North America, and the largest independent manufacturer of ‘dry grocery’ organic foods, and Gevril — a designer and manufacturer of luxury timepieces.

Previous “Groundbreaking Latina” award winners include: Former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, Sesame Street’s Sonia Manzano, Entrepreneur Hilda Gurdian, The Today Show’s Natalie Morales, and Opera Singer Anna Maria Martinez.
