New York, NY–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–September 20, 2004–CATALINA magazine and Colgate-Palmolive come together to host a “Vanilla Spa Getaway” for 100 lucky Latinas, on Monday, September 20, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Manhattan’s upscale Olive Leaf Spa (http://www.olwcnyc.com).

The evening event, filled with complimentary spa treatments, hors d’ouevres, and gifts, is part of a new national promotion to introduce Latina moms to the new SoftSoap Vanilla Brown Sugar Moisturizing Body Wash, by Colgate-Palmolive.

“We are so thankful to Colgate-Palmolive for helping us offer an evening of relaxation to so many Latinas search of a special VIP posh experience” says CATALINA publisher Cathy Areu. “We’re thrilled to be able to serve our readers lobster hors d’ouevres and vanilla-infused spa treatments.”

The event’s special hostess is NY-based author Sofia Quintero, a.k.a. Black Artemis, the first Latina novelist to write about and for women in hip hop. Sofia is an activist, trainer, teacher, writer, speaker and comedienne, who strives to break Latina stereotypes. Under her pseudonym Black Artemis, Sofia wrote the hip hop novel Explicit Content which was published this summer by Penguin Books. As a stand-up comedian, Sofia uses humor to raise the impact of race, gender and class on topics that many consider apolitical — from entertainment to sport. She was trained at the American Comedy Institute and debuted at Caroline’s. Since that time, she has also performed at Dangerfield’s, Stand Up New York, Don’t Tell Mama, and other venues throughout New York City.

“I am so honored and excited to host this wonderful event at the Olive Leaf Spa. Many kudos to Catalina and Colgate-Palmolive for recognizing that Latinas are hardworking mothers, partners, workers, and leaders who deserve pampering too,” says Quintero.

The first 100 Latina moms to R.S.V.P. to a special invite won a VIP evening at the vanilla-infused spa, which includes relaxation treatments and gourmet hors d’ouevres. The treatments include: a Vanilla Foot Soak, Vanilla Hand Massage, Essential Oil Sensory Journey, and Aromatherapy meditation. Hors d’ouevres include: Lobster Salad with Vanilla on Brioche Toast with Microgreens e Hazelnut Snaps with Bucheron and Spiced Pear Marmalade e Greenmarket Vegetable Skewers with Vanilla Balsamic.

One guest will win a vanilla-infused gift basket valued at more than $300. Guests will also receive free gifts and goodies to relive their relaxing, refreshing, and restorative vanilla spa experience in the comfort of your home. Plenty of SoftSoap Vanilla Brown Sugar Moisturizing Body Wash will be on hand to help everyone “indulge their senses.”
