Denton, TX–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–December 20, 2005–America praises “The Legend of Zorro” star Catherine Zeta-Zones and eternal “Sexiest Man Alive” George Clooney as we take a look at 2005 in the 12th annual Best Tressed(R) Survey. The survey, conducted by Sally Beauty and Harris Interactive Inc., asked people to cast a vote on best and worst Hollywood hairstyles from the past year, as they gear up for the upcoming awards season.

Though Americans awarded Catherine Zeta-Jones and George Clooney for their luxurious locks, they may be more attentive in watching the red carpets for new mom Britney Spears and Donald Trump. The survey denounces these stars for more than one bad hair day in 2005.

— A cut or trim is the most popular reason to visit the beauty salon on a regular basis with highlights or lowlights and coloring coming in second

A Look Back

Twelve years ago, when Sally Beauty conducted its first Best Tressed(R) survey, voters envied celebrities such as Sharon Stone, Heather Locklear and John Travolta for their lovely locks.

This year’s female winner for best hair, Catherine Zeta-Jones, makes the list for the first time this year. Brad Pitt who has made the best hair list for several years went from cheers to jeers this year as he was cited with one of the worst bleach jobs.

Results of the Sally Beauty Best Tressed(R) Survey were based on Harris Interactive Inc.-conducted telephone interviews among a nationally representative sample of 1,028 adults (509 men and 519 women), aged 18 and older and living in private households in the continental United States. The interviews were carried out between Nov. 10, and Nov. 17, 2005, with participants selected by using a random-digit-dial sampling technique to reduce bias and include both listed and unlisted telephone numbers. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
