Tampa, FL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–July 18, 2007–CENTRO Mi Diario and CENTROtampa.com are celebrating their second anniversary with a community and family-oriented event, Festival del SABOR, on Saturday, Oct. 13, in Centennial Park, Ybor City, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. This annual Latin food festival takes place during Hispanic Heritage Month and provides a taste of what the Hispanic community contributes to and culturally enhances the Tampa Bay area with food, music and arts. According to Orlando Nieves, CENTRO’s general manager, “Food always plays an integral part of Hispanic culture, and family recipes tend to be passed on from generation to generation. Our goal is to engage the community in an event that celebrates our Hispanic culture through our Sabor.”
The amateur recipe contest, which highlights traditional Latin American dishes, is back. CENTRO Mi Diario encourages all amateur cooks to submit their favorite family recipe in three categories: appetizers, entrees and desserts. Each dish will be judged live at the event by a celebrity panel of judges and food connoisseurs. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each category.
This year the event will be bigger than ever featuring a tent expo for area businesses that includes restaurants, arts and crafts, and a beverage (wine and beer) garden. We also plan on serving the largest “Paella” ever made in Tampa. Expect entertainment for the entire family. Bands and acts will be announced at a later date. This event is hosted by the Ybor City Saturday Market and sponsored locally by The Tampa Tribune, TBO.com, News Channel 8, La Nueva 92.5 FM, and Univision Tampa.
