LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Champion dancers Mark Ballas and Maksim Chmerkovskiy hopped from the ballroom to the barnyard today to compete in the first annual Choco Milk Milking Challenge and send an udderly important message: children should drink milk.

The dancers found themselves in an unfamiliar venue paired with unlikely partners. The place: the Milking Parlor at the L.A. County Fair. Their partners: Bessie and Bonita, California Dairy Cows.

In the barn filled to its rafters with jazzed fans of all ages, the two television network stars tangoed in a fast-paced, side-by-side milking competition. Although Mark and Maksim both applied award-winning hand-milking choreography, Mark scored best, having coaxed Bessie to express 16 ounces more milk than Maksim could woo from Bonita. For his winning performance, Mark danced away with the Choco Milk Cow Milking Championship Trophy topped with a gleaming golden dairy cow.

“We are here for Choco Milk and we had a lot of fun. I think Bessie was the best partner I ever had. I would have liked to take her out for a waltz,” said Mark Ballas.

Choco Milk hosted the celebrity milking challenge as part of its Choco Milk Matters to Kids Tour. The traveling campaign engages children in a series of mental and physical activities that teach nutrition awareness. Children learn that by drinking Choco Milk, a milk modifier with 16 vitamin and minerals, and by exercising, they can gain the ability to develop their body, mind and spirit.

As dancers, Mark and Maksim know the importance of drinking milk and getting all the vitamins and minerals they need to ensure their bodies are strong and healthy. Maksim and Mark competed in the challenge to inspire kids to be healthy and fit for their future roles as champions of the dance floor, the sports field and the classroom.

“Mark and I competed in the Choco Milk Milking Challenge so that kids and their moms and dads would become better informed. Kids are getting really low scores on drinking milk and are coming up short on getting the vitamins and minerals they need, and that’s no way to become a champion,” Maksim said.

The Choco Milk Matters to Kids Tour will visit Los Angeles-area fairs, festivals, youth organizations and retail locations for three weeks. The celebrity milking challenge initiated the tour’s Los Angeles stint. The tour will then travel to other major metropolitan cities, including San Diego and Phoenix.

Choco Milk is part of the nutritional product family of Mead Johnson Nutritionals, a world leader in nutrition. Choco Milk was introduced in Mexico 80 years ago and has remained an essential part of many families throughout generations, and became available in America in 1999. Choco Milk recognizes the importance of a balanced nutrition throughout childhood, which is why it is the only milk modifier with the NutriPantera Formula, enriched with 16 vitamins and minerals from vitamins A, B and C to Zinc. Available in chocolate and strawberry, its delicious flavor is a favorite for kids and adults alike.
