Los Angeles, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–January 23, 2007–Returning once again to Fox Sports en Español, the much anticipated 2007 edition of the Copa Toyota Libertadores kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday, January 24 at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT, with a first-round encounter between Mexico’s legendary Club América vs. Peru’s Sporting Cristal. Featuring 138 matches, the tournament concludes with the Finals taking place on June 13 and 20.
Including Mexico’s Club América, Toluca and Necaxa, this year’s Copa Toyota Libertadores, Latin America’s premier annual club soccer competition, features 38 clubs from Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay, Venezuela, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile, Peru, and Bolivia, battling for Latin America’s most prestigious club soccer championship. All matches will be telecast live in Spanish and exclusively on Fox Sports en Español.
Raul Orvañanos and Jorge Ramos will share commentating duties on all Mexican teams’ home and away games, respectively. Additional commentators may be added and announced at a later date.
Round of 16 matches will take place on May 2 and 9; quarterfinals on May 16 and 23; and semifinals on May 30 and June 6.
