Community Premier Plus Earns Top Ranking

New York, NY–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–March 29, 2005–Community Premier Plus is the number one Medicaid Managed Care health plan in New York City, according to the 2004 Consumer’s Guide to Medicaid Managed Care recently released by the New York State Department of Health. The study indicates that Community Premier Plus has an overall rating of 90% in customer satisfaction and quality of care, rating it first among the 17 managed care plans in the City.

In the recent Consumer’s Guide to Medicaid Managed Care, health plan members stated their high level of satisfaction with their Community Premier Plus doctor and the health plan’s quality of care for adults and children. Members also stated they would recommend Community Premier Plus to relatives and friends. Despite many challenges, Community Premier Plus gets managed care to work to deliver high quality care to its target population: the medically underserved population of the Bronx and upper Manhattan. Community Premier Plus prides itself on treating each member like family while providing the best resources to each and every one of their members.

“All of these attributes encompass being number one in customer satisfaction in New York City,” said Dr. Harris K. Lampert, President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Premier Plus. “We are always connected to community needs. In fact, some of the members of our senior management team, including myself, are practicing doctors in the communities we serve. This allows us to take a proactive approach to all of our members’ medical needs.”

Tomasa Galarza’s history with Community Premier Plus exemplifies why this health plan is ranked so highly by its members. Galarza, 39, from New York City, became pregnant with her second child and decided to stay home and raise her children. She only worked part-time, no longer able to afford medical coverage for the types of treatments required for her son, a diabetic.

With few options available, her physician told her about Community Premier Plus. “I was so excited to hear that there were options for working class mothers like myself,” states Galarza. “I had found a plan that would enable me to have medical coverage for my son who required specific types of treatment because of his illness even though I was only working part-time.”

Community Premier Plus develops programs that have led to a significant and sustained improvement in managed care systems, focusing on increasing the utilization of preventative care through provider and member education. Community Premier Plus seeks to enhance disease and case management programs by empowering health plan members to participate in their own care. “Community Premier Plus always maintains a high standard of personalized customer service to support the plan’s steady growth and their reputation in its communities,” said Dr. Harris K. Lampert. “Our high overall rating by our customers supports our current tagline – at Community Premier Plus we treat you like family.”

Community Premier Plus is a private not-for-profit health plan serving over 72,000 members in Manhattan and the Bronx. We connect our members with quality health care providers close to home. Community Premier Plus makes a real difference in the lives of those who come to us for health insurance. Community Premier Plus is sponsored by New York-Presbyterian Hospital and the Generations + Health Care Network of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.
