Panama City, Panama–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–November 11, 2004–Copa Airlines is the official airline of the prestigious “Tour de las Americas” (TLA) professional golf tour in Latin America and the Caribbean for the third consecutive year.
The TLA, which began in October, has selected the Coronado Country Club and the Summit Country Club as its official sites in Panama. The clubs were chosen for meeting exacting international golf standards, necessary for professional events such as the Tour de las Americas.
The Tour de las Americas includes the participation of the best golf professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean and the European Challenge Tour, competing in various Latin American countries where Copa Airlines flies, with prize packages that add up to more than $1 million this season.
“The TLA provides us a wonderful opportunity to strengthen relationships with our customers and the organizers of the sports tour, which each year acquires greater prestige on the international golf circuit,” said Jorge Garcia Icaza, Commercial Vice President of Copa Airlines. “In addition, our connections and the benefits of our Hub de las Americas in Panama make Copa Airlines the ideal transportation option for the participants of this great tour.”
“The Tour de las Americas is proud that Copa Airlines, the most important airline in the region, is a sponsor again for the third consecutive year,” said Henrique Lavie, Commissioner of the Tour de las Americas. “We identify closely with Copa, since the airline reaches many Latin American destinations, just as does the Tour de las Americas.”
