Panama City, Panama–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–June 24, 2004–Copa Airlines ranked among the top “Best Employers in Latin America” in a survey published in the June 18 edition of AmericaEconomia Magazine. The survey is the first-ever ranking of top employers in Latin America.

Copa, which ranked No. 25, was the only airline and the only Panamanian company on the list. More than 100 companies competed for a spot in the ranking. Only two other Central American companies made the list.

Hewitt Associates, a global consulting company based in Chicago and specializing in human resources, conducted the survey, which focused on various factors related to work environment, including the effectiveness of human resource programs, corporate governance, employee orientation, communication, salaries, leadership and benefits. The study gathered employee and CEO feedback. An independent jury of business leaders, human resource professionals and academic representatives selected the companies in a “blind” process in which company names were not revealed to the judges until the final selection was made.

“Copa Airlines’ employees are among the most dedicated in the aviation industry and we are extremely pleased to be included in this first-ever survey in such a prestigious magazine as AmericaEconomia,” said Alexander Gianareas, Senior Director, Human Resources, Copa Airlines. “Our goal is to create a work environment and benefits for our staff that will inspire them to continue to provide top-notch customer service.”

AmericaEconomia is Latin America’s leading pan-regional business magazine, with a biweekly circulation of over 84,000 copies in Spanish and Portuguese. Founded in 1986, AmericaEconomia has editorial offices in Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Miami, Santiago and Sao Paulo, plus a worldwide network of correspondents.

Copa Airlines offers nonstop service to Panama City from four U.S. cities: daily from New York city, twice daily from Miami, daily from Los Angeles, and four times a week from Orlando.
