NEW YORK, June 11 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The ADCOLOR(R) Industry Coalition is proud to announce Hispanic media mogul Cristina Saralegui as the 2009 ADCOLOR(R) Awards All-Star Honoree. Each year, the ADCOLOR(R) Awards celebrates outstanding achievements by diverse professionals in advertising, marketing and media. Past “All-Star Honorees” include Russell Simmons of RUSH World Synergies and Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Jr. of Magic Johnson Enterprises. This year’s ADCOLOR(R) Awards will be hosted by CNN’s Soledad O’Brien and will take place on Sunday, October 4 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix.
The ADCOLOR(R) Awards — presented by Arnold Worldwide, CNN, Google, Microsoft Advertising, and Omnicom Group — serve as the official kick-off of the ANA’s Multicultural Marketing & Diversity Conference at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix (Oct. 4 – Oct. 6), which is attended by leaders in multicultural marketing, media and advertising industries.
“I’m honored to be receiving the 2009 ADCOLOR All-Star Award that recognizes the transformative effect that people of color have had in the media, marketing and advertising worlds,” said Saralegui. “In receiving this award, my hope is that I can continue to inspire young and talented people of color to break stereotypes and glass ceilings!”
Saralegui’s unparalleled achievements span over three decades that started in 1979 when Helen Gurley Brown tapped her to become the editor of Cosmopolitan en Espanol. She resigned her post at Cosmo in 1989 to start her own talk show — “The Cristina Show” — on Univision and since then this Hispanic media legend has built an empire that includes her own media and licensing company, Cristina Saralegui Enterprises, Inc (CSE); Blue Dolphin Studios, a Miami-based television production facility; a home furnishings collection entitled Casa Cristina(TM); and an AIDS awareness foundation called “Arriba la Vida/Up with Life Foundation.”
Tiffany R. Warren, Founder of ADCOLOR(R) and Chief Diversity Officer for Omnicom Group, Inc., is “thrilled to honor Cristina by celebrating her achievements and great works amongst her peers in advertising, marketing and media. ADCOLOR’s mission is to acknowledge the richness that comes from diverse professionals who have reached back as they have risen up. We will continue to recognize professionals from all ethnic backgrounds and are very pleased to be honoring such a recognized figure in the Hispanic world.”
