Santa Monica, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–October 18, 2007–This year’s Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year Juan Luis Guerra, Pepe Aguilar, Camila, Conjunto Primavera, and Laura Pausini are the first performers announced for the 8th Annual Latin GRAMMY(R) Awards telecast, it was announced today by The Latin Recording Academy(R). Confirmed to present awards are actor Benjamin Bratt; Norte; three-time GRAMMY winner and Latin GRAMMY winner Gloria Estefan; three-time Latin GRAMMY winners, two-time GRAMMY winners and 2007 Latin Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award recipients Los Tigres Del and actress Sofia Vergara. The 8th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will take place on Nov. 8 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be broadcast on the Univision Network from 8 – 11 p.m. (ET/PT).
GRAMMY winner and four-time Latin GRAMMY winner Juan Luis Guerra is nominated for Album Of The Year and Best Merengue Album for La Llave De Mi Corazon and Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best Tropical Song for the title track. Pepe Aguilar has a nod for Best Ranchero Album (Enamorado). Conjunto Primavera currently is nominated for Best Norteno Album (El Amor Que Nunca Fue). And Laura Pausini is nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Album (Yo Canto). “Todo Cambio,” a song performed by Camila, is up for Song Of The Year (Mario Domm and Jose Luis Ortega, songwriters).
Preceding the Awards show telecast, Univision will present exclusive “Noche de Estrellas” (Night of the Stars) coverage of the celebrity arrivals direct from the Latin GRAMMY Awards Green Carpet starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. Central). Hosted by “Primer Impacto” co-anchor Barbara Bermudo and popular Univision personality Giselle Blondet, “Noche de Estrellas” will feature live interviews and commentary on the stars and their fashions, and provide viewers an intimate and up close look at Latin music’s most glamorous and gala event.
