Detroit, MA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–February 16, 2005–Lawyers representing a few former, minority dealers who filed a complaint against General Motors have issued a statement. Unfortunately, the comments by the attorneys are typical trial lawyer hyperbole we’ve come to expect in this country. The claims have no merit.

Our record of investment and success in developing minority dealerships and helping them become profitable is clear. Since 1997, the total number of GM dealerships has declined by 13 percent, but with GM’s active support, the number of minority-owned dealerships has increased by over 30 percent to 382. No company has more minority dealerships than General Motors. Further, although entrepreneurial activity never comes with a guaranty of success, the majority of these dealerships are profitable.

GM’s Minority Dealer Development Program is the best in the industry. We will vigorously defend GM and our employees against the lawsuit.
