Silverspring, MD–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–September 15, 2004–Discovery en Español’s fourth annual celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month airs September 17 through October 17 and features legendary Cuban singer Celia Cruz, two talented young baseball players from the Dominican Republic, actresses Salma Hayek, María Félix and Norma Aleandro, Oscar-winning director Pedro Almodóvar, author Gabriel García Márquez and a host of other well-known personalities in a total of 11 compelling specials.
This year, Discovery en Español presents three U.S. premieres during Hispanic Heritage Month, including LATIN BEAT, which examines the role of Latin culture on contemporary life in North America; CHAVELA VARGAS, a profile of the great singer; and CHANGE UP, a moving documentary about two Dominican teenagers trying to make it into America’s Major League Baseball. Additionally, Discovery en Español will air a network premiere of LA CUBA MÍA, featuring Celia Cruz in one of her final performances.
Discovery en Español celebrates the true spirit and diversity of its audience with evenings of cultural icons, living legends, community voices and everyday heroes.
