Oak Brook Terrace, IL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–October 25, 2007–As part of its ongoing commitment to the Latino community, DeVry University will sponsor the After-Party Gift Bag for the 8th Annual Latin GRAMMY(R) Awards.

The 8th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, set for Nov. 8 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, will be broadcast live on the Univision Network from 8 – 11 p.m. ET/PT.

DeVry University will be “the first organization of higher education to participate as the gift bag sponsor of the Latin GRAMMY After-Party” according to Melanie Wright, East Region Public Relations Manager for DeVry, and coordinator of the university’s participation in the event.

Approximately 13 percent of DeVry University students nationwide are Latino. According to an annual survey by educational trade publication Diverse: Issues in Higher Education of the “Top 100 Degree Producers” of bachelor’s degree graduates who are students of color, DeVry University is a leading producer of Hispanic graduates earning bachelor’s degrees in the field of Computer and Information Science and Support Services in the United States.

In addition to its sponsorship of the 8th Annual Latin GRAMMY After-Party Gift Bag, DeVry University is the sponsor of several Latino education initiatives, including the DeVry University MiGente Con Mente essay competition directed at Latino youth interested in pursuing a college education. At the high school level, DeVry partners with Banco Popular to offer scholarships valued at up to $9,000 to pursue degree programs in business, technology and healthcare technology. In addition, DeVry University has served as a host university for ASPIRA conferences. ASPIRA of Florida, Inc. is a community based, not-for-profit organization devoted to empowering Latino youth through education and leadership development.

Presented by Univision, the Hispanic television network, the Latin GRAMMY Awards show reached 11.3 million viewers last year. “We hope our presence here says that we are engaged, committed and excited to be a part of Latino culture and education,” said Abramovich.
