WHO/WHAT:

Thousands of Hispanic entrepreneurs, corporate exhibitors and procurement officers will exchange business cards and cut deals at the Latin Business Association’s 10th Annual National Latino Business Expo in downtown Los Angeles.

The Expo—the largest Latino business-to-business event in the country—opens at 9:30 a.m. with Los Angeles City Council President Alex Padilla cutting the ceremonial red ribbon at the South Hall Entrance. At noon, U.S. Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral will offer the keynote address at the Latina Entrepreneur Luncheon, sponsored by LATINA Style Magazine and Wells Fargo. The luncheon will celebrate the contributions made by successful Latina entrepreneurs throughout the country.

The LBA will also donate a booth to Clinica Monseñor Oscar A. Romero, a nonprofit organization located in the Pico Union area, and the Salvadorean American Business Association to collect contributions from Expo attendees who wish to support recovery efforts in Mexico, El Salvador and Guatemala following Hurricane Stan and an earthquake that recently struck the region.

BACKGROUND:

Under the theme, “A Decade of Excellence in Latino Showcasing,” the LBA Expo will also feature a keynote address by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa at Saturday’s Business Luncheon, as well as procurement opportunities, access to financial services, bilingual seminars offered by business experts and a trade expo that’s expected to draw more than 250 exhibitors. This year’s Expo kicks off a yearlong celebration to mark the 30th anniversary of the organization, which was created to help Hispanic entrepreneurs grow their businesses.
