NEW YORK–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–May 2, 2003–Univision’s book club, Despierta Leyendo, has selected Carolina Garcia-Aguilera’s novel, UN VERANO BIEN CALIENTE, as one of their three picks for the month of May.
The announcement was made this morning on “Despierta America,” the network’s morning show.

UN VERANO BIEN CALIENTE is Garcia-Aguilera’s Spanish-language fiction debut. The book was first published in English last summer to wide acclaim. USA Today called it “a universal story of self-doubt and the way we feel when we fear our lives are traveling in the wrong direction” and the author’s sharp writing was lauded by Publishers’ Weekly as having “tongue-in-cheek humor (that) enlivens the situations she describes with intimate familiarity . . . another crowd pleaser.” The novel went on to be selected as one of Cosmopolitan’s “must-read” titles. Both editions of the book (Spanish and English) are available this month in trade paperback from Rayo, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.
Cuban-born Carolina Garcia-Aguilera, has been a private investigator for over a decade, before becoming a full time writer. Her previous books include Bloody Waters; Bloody Shame; Bloody Secrets; A Miracle in Paradise; Havana Heat; and Bitter Sugar—all widely acclaimed mysteries in the Lupe Solano series. She has been honored with the Flamingo Award and Shamus Award for her books. Her latest novel, LUCK OF THE DRAW will be published by Rayo in June 2003.
