ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ — The National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) announced that honorary New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson will co-chair the 25th Annual Convention and Business Expo in Albuquerque from March 10-13.
Along with the governor, Former Ambassador to Spain Ed Romero and Mrs. Cayetana Romero have also agreed to play active roles as honorary co-chairs with NAHP President Clara Padilla Andrews.
“We are pleased the governor has recognized the growing importance and influence of Hispanic publications in his own state and across the country,” said NAHP president Clara Padilla Andrews. “This will be the first time the convention has come to the state of New Mexico, and it will be an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the progressive cultural, social and economic growth of the region.”
Publishers will travel from across the country and Mexico to participate in the four-day conference, which will offer cutting-edge workshops and lectures for industry leaders and newcomers, touching on best practices, advertising, sales, new and social media for a rapidly-growing Hispanic audience.
The Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce and the National Hispanic Press Foundation are also partners in this year’s convention. The University of New Mexico is also supporting by providing an opportunity for students interested in journalism to join in on the Future Leaders Day on Saturday, hosted by the National Hispanic Press Foundation.
The NAHP recently added two new categories to its membership — members of the Asociacion Mexicana de Editores (AME) and Latino authors in the United States. Members from AME will participate and organization leaders will be featured on an International Press Panel. Latino authors will participate in workshops and have books available for sale with personalized autographs.
“We are very excited about being in Albuquerque to celebrate the association’s 25th convention and honor founders, state and community leaders, international publishers and local Latino leaders,” expressed Executive Director, Mary Ann Gomez.
The convention host hotel, Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town is next door to popular Old Town artisans, restaurants and art galleries. Local artists and retailers will be showcasing and selling their products at the Business Expo.
