Lauderdale, FL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–October 13, 2005–The celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in Broward County, Florida closes out a month-plus calendar of events with the 16th annual Bank of America VIVA BROWARD! festival and expo, on Saturday, October 22nd and Sunday, October 23rd. Three time GRAMMY(R) nominees Plena Libre, who close out their U.S. Tour at the Fort Lauderdale festival, have recently released their new CD “Evolucion”.
Plena Libre is attributed to revitalising the Puerto Rico “plena”..a danceable fresh sound with its Afro-Rican style rooted in the island’s history. The band will take the main stage on Sunday, 4pm.
The free festival and expo also features Miami’s King of Salsa, Carlos Oliva y Los Sobrinos del Juez, a Latin jazz concert on Saturday night, merengue, folkloric shows and even Brazilian capoeria on 3 stages. Latin foods, free salsa dance lessons, arts and crafts, kids fun and a bilingual business expo with more than 100 booths complete the free family day.
