Dallas, TX–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–November 30, 2006–LATINA Style Magazine is proud to partner with El Hispano News for it’s 20th Anniversary Celebration-“Parents Step Ahead” Program. El Hispano News “Parents Step Ahead” Program is a collaborative initiative with the White House on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans, the National Association of Hispanic Publications Foundation (NAHPF) and the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). The program is designed to educate, enable, and empower Hispanic parents to understand and to take a proactive role in the personal and educational development of their children and make a positive impact in their lives.
The “Parents Step Ahead” Program consists of a series of seminars, open to the public. This year’s events were held at three different elementary schools in predominantly Hispanic neighborhoods.

To culminate the first year of the program and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of El Hispano News, on December 7th, 2006, at the Westin City Center Hotel in downtown Dallas, El Hispano News will award six parents the “Parents Step Ahead” Program with the Parent of the Year Award at their 20th Anniversary Gala. A committee comprised of local corporate and community leaders will select the winner based on attendance and participation in the seminars.
Awards will be presented by Nina Vaca, CEO, Pinnacle and representatives of Wal-Mart, American Airlines, UnitedHeathCare, Coors Brewing Company, and AT&T.
El Hispano News Co-Founders Lupita Colmenero and Marcos Nelson Suarez will welcome Dr. Elba Garcia, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem, City of Dallas Featured Speaker: Dr. Michael Hinojosa, General Superintendent, Dallas Independent School District.
The event will be emceed by Rafael Colón and guest speakers include Frank Gomez, Executive Director, Corporate Communications, ETS, and Robert E. Bard, President, LATINA Style Magazine and keynote speaker Armando Guzmán, Correspondent, Producer & Anchorman, Azteca America. The Gala concludes with entertainment from Mariachi Mexicanisimo.
