Bishop Victor T. Curry and the New Birth Baptist Church Cathedral of Faith International Call for ‘Unity of the Community’


Miami, FL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–February 15, 2006–Bishop Victor T. Curry, Senior Pastor/Teacher of the New Birth Baptist Church Cathedral of Faith International is calling for “Unity in the Community”. As a part of The University of Miami’s Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency and WMBM AM-1490, day of “Unity and Diversity” New Birth’s Multicultural Ministry will host a “Celebration of Our Diversity and Unity” musical production on Tuesday, February 21st 2006.

As a component of the church’s Black History Month observances, “Celebrating Our Diversity & Unity” will begin with the campus grounds entrance decorated with Bahamian décor, a cultural art display, musical production featuring live Junkanoo, Bobby Rosario and his Latin Jazz Band, international recording artist Nigel Lewis, the Voices of Victory Haitian Youth Choir, vocalist Rochelle Saunders and the Robert A. Jackson Music Ministry. Immediately following the service there will be a food tasting. Other special invited guests include Health & Fitness Expert Donna Richardson-Joyner.

In an unusual ministry move, the celebratory message delivered by Bishop Curry will be translated into Creole and Spanish. “I’m bringing this community together as one because it’s time to bring unity to all aspects of this unity,” Curry said. “This is an evening where people of all nationalities, races, creeds and colors will share a joyous, spiritually fulfilling multicultural evening of praise and worship through song and dance. I’m setting out to lift the spirits of this community to new heights, to put all our differences aside and to help us all stand on common ground. This festive, spiritual event will begin at 6:00pm at New Birth, 2300 NW 22nd Avenue. The event is a joint project with the Islands of The Bahamas and The Event Concierge Group.

Along with the evening event, Curry is kicking off the day with a partnership with the University of Miami’s Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency. Bishop Curry, along with Dr. Clive Callender, the nationally renowned founder and director of the Minority Organ and Tissue/Transplant Education Program (MOTTEP)/Howard University, are co-hosting a Multicultural Community Forum on “Saving Lives through Transplantation” between 9:00am and 12:00pm, at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute Retter Auditorium 900 NW 17th Street.

The forum, a live radio broadcast of the “Tuesday Talk with Bishop Victor T. Curry” on AM 1490 WMBM, will focus on health, religion, cultural diversity and saving lives. Hosted by Bishop Victor T. Curry, the broadcast is part of Life Alliance’s effort to reach out to the minority communities and better inform them about living healthy and preventing chronic diseases that could lead to transplants.

Other invited guests at the morning forum include: Health and fitness expert Donna Richardson Joyner, Dr. AndreasTzakis, Professor and Director of the University of Miami’s Liver & GI Transplant Program and Dr. Gaetano Ciancio, Professor of Surgery & Urology and associate director of the UM kidney & kidney/pancreas transplant program.
