‘Hispanics Today’ TV Program Tops Advertising Goals; Seen As Key Marketing Tool By Corporate America

WASHINGTON–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–Nov. 25, 2003–The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) announced today that “Hispanics Today,” the nation’s only syndicated English-language program that reaches a Latino viewing audience of more than 26 million on major market stations, reached its full capacity for advertising, filling all seven advertising spots. This represents a major milestone for the television show, which now in addition to a solid viewer base boasts long-term support from leading corporations.

“Hispanics Today” currently airs in 86% of Hispanic households and is increasingly viewed as a valuable marketing tool by corporations interested in reaching out to the Hispanic community. With the emergence of the Hispanic community as the largest minority group with an annual purchasing power of $600 billion, more corporations see the weekly half-hour program as the easiest and most direct window into Hispanic homes throughout the country. Current sponsors of Hispanics Today include AOL Latino, Cendant Corporation, FedEx, General Motors Corporation, New York Life Insurance Company, The Coca-Cola Company and its most recent contributor, Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has agreed to purchase two spots for 52 weeks.

Since its creation in 1999, Hispanics Today evolved from a monthly program to a weekly syndicated program. This past September the show began its fifth season with such guests as U.S. Representative Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) and Latina Style Publisher Robert Bard. The show offers the latest news and information about the issues that impact the Hispanic community, presenting real-life stories about Hispanics in America, and profiles and interviews with leading Hispanic figures in business, entertainment, politics, culture and sports. The show is taped weekly at Grace Studios located in the nation’s capital.
