Cover Story: People en Español Pays Tribute to the Legendary Celia Cruz

New York, NY–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–August 21, 2003–People en Español will release its first-ever tribute section, which celebrates the life of music icon Celia Cruz on Monday, September 1. The special 20-page collectible pull-out pays homage to the Queen of Salsa and her many significant contributions to the Hispanic community.

The issue features a timeline of Cruz’s 78+ years, including never-before-seen photos and exclusive interviews with celebrity friends and family. Readers will be privy to a celebrity-filled photo diary showcasing Cruz with longtime friends Rita Moreno, Gloria Estefan, Tony Bennett and Antonio Banderas. Tribute quotes from these luminaries along with Patti LaBelle, Bill Clinton and Marc Anthony also appear throughout the section.

In addition, the first interview with Cruz’s long time partner and husband of 40+ years, Pedro Knight, is included in the section. “I feel so empty without her,” said Knight after returning home from her funeral.

Knight also discusses Cruz’s year-long battle with cancer and his dedication to keeping her memory will remain alive.
