El Nuevo Herald and La Opinión Digital to Launch Premiere Website for the 4th Annual Latin Grammy Awards

Website debut to coincide with the announcement of the nominees

Miami, FL—(BUSINESS WIRE – HISPANIC PR WIRE)–July 24, 2003–El Nuevo Herald and La Opinión Digital announced today that they have joined their resources and expertise to bring U.S. Hispanics a special website covering the 4th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. The launch of the site coincides with the announcement of the Latin Grammy nominees.

With the growing popularity of Latin music worldwide, the Latin Grammys are seen as the premiere awards for recognizing the diverse music styles that originate from Latin America. The website has been designed to give Latinos complete information and photos about the awards and their favorite music stars. The site will be accessible at the web sites of El Nuevo Herald and La Opinión at http://www.elnuevoherald.com and http://www.laopinion.com/latingrammy. Updated information will be available before, during and after the Latin Grammy Awards. Interviews, facts and photos will be only part of the wide array of entertainment news that will be featured.

The partnership unites two of the most successful forces in Hispanic news: El Nuevo Herald, the nation’s largest Spanish-language Sunday newspaper, and winner of the Ortega Y Gasset Award in 2002; and La Opinión, the nation’s largest Spanish-language daily newspaper, and its website, La Opinión Digital, recognized as the Best News and Information Site of 2002.

“We are pleased to join forces with La Opinión in bringing this exciting entertainment news to Hispanic communities everywhere via the Web,” said Kim Marcille, General Manager for Knight Ridder Digital, Miami, producers of ElNuevoHerald.com. “The fact that the Latin Grammy Awards are being hosted in Miami just a few blocks from our office will give us some great coverage opportunities.”

“La Opinión Digital is committed to bringing the best entertainment news to Hispanics living in the U.S.,” stated Mary Zerafa, Director of La Opinión Digital. “Our co-branded site with El Nuevo Herald promises to bring the excitement of the Latin Grammys to Hispanics nationwide.”

The partnership is a content, sales and marketing alliance. The site will be promoted in each partner’s print and online properties as well as be permanently positioned on each partner’s website. Advertising packages are available through both of the partners and will provide companies with an excellent method to reach U.S. Hispanics through one of the most popular entertainment events.
