Santa Barbara, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–August 30, 2005–Hispanic Business(R) magazine, a leading publication for and about affluent Hispanic professionals and entrepreneurs, announces that its 15th Annual EOY(R) (Entrepreneur of the Year) Awards Gala will be held November 10, 2005 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Cadillac is the premier sponsor of this year’s event. The EOY(R) Awards honor highly successful Hispanic entrepreneurs for their drive, innovation, courage, and civic responsibility.
Awards will be given in five categories: Infobusiness, Heavy Industry, Trade Industry, Rising Star (for candidates under 35), and Latina Entrepreneur. The winner from each category is eligible to receive the top honor – the Hispanic Business Magazine EOY(R) (Entrepreneur of the Year) Award. Last year’s winner was Robert Dominguez Jr., CEO of Ambreco Inc., a general contracting firm which handles all phases of military construction.
Candidates are nominated by the readers of Hispanic Business magazine, from which the finalists for each category are determined. The winners are chosen by a panel of judges based upon financial performance, management practices, employee development, and encouragement of entrepreneurship. This year, for the first time, the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business Greif Center for Entrepreneurship will be judging the winners.
Daytime activities of the EOY(R) event include roundtable discussions on capital markets, with top executives at pension funds and private equity funds participating, as well as legislators, CEOs, and entrepreneurs. Special emphasis will be given to the emerging Middle Market of Hispanic-owned companies and the challenges faced in gaining access to capital.
During the EOY(R) evening awards ceremony, Hispanic Business magazine will also present its 3rd annual Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring a select individual who has led a distinguished career displaying superior achievements, leadership, innovation, vision, and civic service. Marta Tienda, professor of Demographic Studies in the Department of Sociology and Public Policy at Princeton University, was the recipient of last year’s Lifetime Achievement Award for her academic accomplishments in documenting the economic and entrepreneurial evolution of the U.S. Hispanic population.
With 2005 marking a 15-year milestone for this event, the ceremony will present a chronicle of the EOY Awards’ history and evolution. Parallel to this retrospective, the progress and strides made by U.S. Hispanics over the past 15 years in the realm of business, economics, politics, and academics will also be examined.
