Washington, DC–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–October 14, 2005–The National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL) will convene its member Hispanic legislators from across the country with corporate executives, government officials and policymakers at its Third National Summit on November 10-13 in Tampa, Florida. The theme of the Summit is “Legislative Challenges, Policy Solutions” and United States Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral will be among the featured guest speakers.
“Our national Summit is unique because it provides participants an opportunity to engage one-on-one and network with Hispanic legislators and public policy experts from the public/private industry. We are pleased to work with the local Tampa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Orlando Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, LULAC and other groups and affiliates who are helping to make our Summit in Tampa a success,” said NHCSL President Felix Ortiz who is also a New York State Assemblyman.
The NHCSL Summit expects Hispanic state legislators from across the country, corporate executives, educators, policymakers, and other national, state and local elected officials to participate. The Summit officially begins with a John S. Martinez Golf Outing to help raise funds for the “John S. Martinez Excellence in Leadership” Scholarship Fund created to help young high school students who aspire to having a political career. The fund was created to honor the legacy of the late, former president of NHCSL, Representative John S. Martinez of Connecticut. Representative Martinez was a trailblazer in the Connecticut State legislature and served in office for more than five years. Pros and amateurs alike are certain to have a good time for a good cause at the prestigious Tournament Players Club in Tampa on November 10.
A Policy Priorities Plenary at the Summit will feature three panel discussions focusing on the areas of health, education and immigration. Policy experts and practitioners will participate in this session The Summit will also include a Corporate Partner Hearing where senior-ranking officials from corporate America will share their policy priorities and how they address the needs of the Hispanic community.
