1989. The CIA and American forces are determined to capture ruthless Panamanian strong man Manuel Noriega. No longer run by the CIA, he has charted his own path to near-absolute power in his country, and the price of his refusal to obey his handlers is an American invasion. Accused of murder, drug trafficking and corruption, he has sought sanctuary with Vatican emissary Archbishop Jose Sebastian Laboa. But the Archbishop has his own agenda to follow, separate from Noriega’s, and the struggle between these two men is the story of Donald Freed’s play “The Devil’s Advocate,” based on true events.
Robert Beltran (of the TV series “Star Trek: Voyager” and “Big Love”) portrays Noriega. Tom Fitzpatrick plays Laboa.
