Top donut with those delicious little crumbles on top,” said Victor Cruz, Super
Bowl Champion and Entenmann’s celebrity ambassador for National Donut Day.  “I’m
so excited that their bakers would create this special giant Entenmann’s Crumb
Top donut just for me in celebration of National Donut Day.”

us,” explained Maureen Sticco, Director of Entenmann’s Marketing Services.
“This year also marks our third straight year with our official partnership with

holiday, held annually on the first Friday of June, was established by The
Salvation Army in 1938 in Chicago to honor the “Donut Lassies” who served these
treats to soldiers during World War I and to help raise needed funds during the
Great Depression.  This significant occasion established the donut as a
long-standing symbol of the services The Salvation Army continues to provide.

Fans were treated all afternoon to free donuts, coffee and hundreds of
giveaways, thanks to Entenmann’s and The Salvation Army respectively.  Consumers
were invited to pose for pictures with a life-sized cutout of Cruz, a giant
6-foot Entenmann’s Crumb Top donut box and a photo station featuring Entenmann’s
Mascot, “Rich.”

Entenmann’s, with donut bakeries in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Montebello,
California, produce more than 780 million donuts a year, which equivalents to 15
million donuts a week and more than 100,000 donuts every hour to keep up with
the demands of Entenmann’s donut lovers nationwide.

“What a great day to be in New York City celebrating National Donut Day,” said
Major Ron Busroe, National Community Relations and Development Secretary for The
Salvation Army. “Thank you to our friends at Entenmann’s who are helping us
bring attention to the history of The Salvation Army and the service the lassies
provided many years ago. Today, The Salvation Army continues in its service of
the great men and women who have served our country, in the programs it offers
helping veterans across the country.”
