Washington, DC–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–March 16, 2004–One of the world’s best soccer players, Enzo Francescoli, better-known as “El Principe,” will be recognized at the Friday Luncheon at the National Association of Hispanic Publications Inc. Annual Convention, which will take place in Los Angeles from March 17 to March 20, 2004.
Enzo has been recently nominated by Pele, Brazil’s futbol legend, in the FIFA’s list of the top-125 living players. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, El Principe has played in some of the best soccer teams in Europe and Latin America, which includes the Italian teams of Cagliari and Torino and the River Plate of Argentina. With a total goal average of 510, El Principe has been recognized for his outstanding performance in 1985 as the best South American.
In 2003, Francescoli and a group of other soccer experts of South America, created the first US-based, bilingual soccer-only channel called GolTV. The network is broadcasted through satellite television, and recently launched via digital cable in Florida, Texas, California and New York. In less than a year GolTV reaches approximately 4.7 million people. In 2004, the company estimates that number will jump to eight million.
