Laurel, MD–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–October 27, 2006–Aquilent, Inc. today announced a new relationship between FirstGov en español (http://www.espanol.gov) and Univision Online, Inc., the interactive division of Univision Communications Inc. (NYSE:UVN). The partnership will provide users online access to official government information and services on Univision.com. Aquilent and its partner Captura Group, a pioneer in the development of in-language and in-culture Hispanic online solutions, helped develop the strategy and facilitated the discussions that led to this association between espanol.gov and Univision Online.
Espanol.gov is the official Spanish-language portal of the U.S. Federal Government and is part of the General Service Administration’s (GSA) Office of Citizen Services and Communications (OCSC). Univision.com is the most visited Spanish-language website in the U.S. Official government information and services on Univision.com will feature key topics such as jobs, education, immigration, consumer protection and health.
According to ComScore Media Metrix, in August 2006 there were 16.5 million U.S. Hispanics online of which 7.3 million, or 44%, visited websites in the Government category. U.S. Hispanics are indicating a significant interest in e-government, as evidenced by their online behavior.
“We are thrilled to work with espanol.gov and support their mission of providing meaningful access to government information and services for people who speak Spanish. Through a partnership with a trusted and credible resource like Univision.com, espanol.gov will not only be able to connect online Hispanics with official government information and services, but will also benefit from a synergistic relationship that will positively influence Hispanic’s perception of government,” said Lee Vann, Principal of Captura Group and recipient of the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s (IAB) Hispanic Online Pionero (Pioneer) award in 2005.
“We are proud of FirstGov and OCSC team’s leadership in providing customer-focused solutions,” said David Fout, Aquilent’s President and CEO. “FirstGov is breaking ground again with the development of espanol.gov and by partnering with Univision.com. We’re looking forward to more great things we can accomplish together.”
