Houston, TX–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–May 6, 2005–Four military wives from the Houston area will receive complete makeovers for Mother’s Day compliments of Marshalls Department Stores and Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting military families.

The event, hosted at The Heritage Society (1100 Bagby Street) serves as the official launch of Operation Homefront’s Houston Chapter.

“Our mission is to assist military families while their loved ones are serving our country,” said Amy Palmer, Operation Homefront’s Executive Director. “This event demonstrates our gratitude to our military wives and lets the military community know that Operation Homefront is here in Houston and ready to help,” Palmer added.

The participants for the makeover were nominated through a writing contest hosted by Operation Homefront. For some of these mothers, their husbands and sons have been deployed for more than a year, and learning to cope with another Mother’s Day without their loved ones does not prove any easier.

“I focus on my children and the fact my husband is coming home and knowing what he is doing is for our freedom,” said Sharon Mooney, one of the mothers selected to receive a makeover after being nominated by her son.

The mothers new look will be revealed on Tuesday, May 10th in front of an audience consisting of family, friends and other military moms.

In addition to the makeovers, which include professional makeup, hairstyling and outfits provided by Marshalls, the national off-price family apparel and home fashions retailer, a $2,000 donation will be made to Operation Homefront’s Houston chapter. Three large gift baskets and door prizes will also be raffled at the event. The intention behind Marshalls’ generosity is to encourage military family attendance to the makeover event in an effort to promote knowledge of the services Operation Homefront has to offer in the community.

“We had the pleasure of partnering with Operation Homefront last December in Los Angeles donating makeovers and gifts to military families for the holidays. It was a successful event and we look forward to supporting the local Houston chapter by inspiring the community to donate in-kind services and goods for local military families,” said Marcie Perez, a spokeswoman for Marshalls.
