Hispanic Artist Showcase Hits the Road This Summer

Sabrosura Art Tour will travel Texas and New Mexico

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, July 3 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Two iconic Texas brands are collaborating this summer to showcase Hispanic artists from across the country with the Sabrosura Art Tour. Whataburger and Dr Pepper have teamed up for the tour which will make 38 stops at Whataburger restaurants in Texas and New Mexico during July and August to display the work of 23 Hispanic artists.

Professional, student and amateur artists submitted hundreds of original artwork pieces during the online Dr Pepper Sabrosura Art Contest last fall. Those entries were culled down to the 23 finalists (the number of flavors in Dr Pepper) by online voters. The themes of all the artwork tie to ‘Sabrosura’ which translates to tastiness, deliciousness or scrumptiousness.

The pieces will be displayed in a special mobile gallery that will travel to Whataburger locations in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi, Del Rio, Laredo, El Paso, the Rio Grande Valley and Albuquerque.

“We encourage our Hispanic consumers to express their individuality and zest for life. Sabrosura provides another reason to celebrate while Dr Pepper satisfies the quest for rich taste. Dr Pepper Snapple Group is excited to partner with Whataburger Restaurants on this opportunity to offer consumers a fulfilling Sabrosura experience through artwork, food and drink,” said Ron Jeans, Director of National Accounts, Dr Pepper Snapple Group.

Colorful memories of music, family and food in the kitchen inspired many of the artists. The grand prize winner, Maricela Garza from McAllen, Texas, describes her inspiration as the “Los multicolores de la vida latina” and her mission with her artwork is “to promote art awareness, cultivate friendships and enrich lives through cultural art.”

“Whataburger has been part of many of these artists’ communities for decades and we’re thrilled to celebrate and showcase their talent,” said Todd Coerver, Whataburger Vice President of Marketing and Innovation. “Folks who come down to check out the tour will not be disappointed. The artwork that is being showcased is truly amazing and offers a unique celebration of Hispanic culture.”

In selected cities, the tour will include personal appearances by the artists who will sign copies of their work. At each event, an 18″ x 24″ reproduction of the framed art will be given away in a raffle drawing. In addition to the art, the tour will also feature music, interactive games, coupons and prize drawings.

The tour will kick off on July 9 in Dallas and ends on August 24 in Houston. For more information, visit http://www.drpeppersabrosura.com or http://www.whataburger.com .
