Phoenix, AZ–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–September 23, 2005–For the first time in its storied 120-year tradition, the Arizona State Fair has teamed up with a corporate presenting sponsor—and Fairgoers get the benefit. This year’s edition, now known as the Arizona State Fair presented by Qwest, offers an extended run of 21 days from October 14 through November 6 (closed Mondays) with an abundance of rides, midway attractions, fun food, live animals and big-name concerts in the Qwest Concert Series. Qwest is taking an active role in sponsoring other elements of the Fair as well, including Qwest Arizona Heritage Day.
Qwest will also have two major gathering places at the Fair, including the large “Planet Qwest” sphere, which will offer Fair-goers the opportunity to take the Qwest Promise of Value Challenge™ to lower their communications bills, learn about Qwest services, and win valuable prizes including iTunes™ downloads and concert tickets. The Planet Qwest sphere will also have valuable community service information, such as parental tips on how to keep kids safe when they surf the Internet and a celebration of the nation’s veterans. Finally, Planet Qwest will be the premier destination for evening Fair-attendees. After 9:00 p.m. each night, Planet Qwest will become a dance club complete with a D.J.

This year’s Fair delivers even more interactive activities, rides, and exhibits than ever before. Family favorites set to return include the Ghirardelli Chocolate Championship, Demolition Derby, Arizona Lottery Backyard and the United States Armwrestling Championships. Some of the newest attractions bound to please include Kid Zone, Shiner Hold’Em Poker Tournament, and eating competitions of pies, pizzas and grilled cheese. Animals of all sizes and breeds will be on hand, such as livestock, miniature horses, elephant rides and pig races, as well as the exotic creatures in Macy’s Petting Zoo and the Wildlife World Zoo. And for those who don’t care for the live mooing of cows, this year’s Fair offers a huge, non-mooing butter-sculpted cow.
