Mariachi USA Festival Celebrates 15-Year Anniversary

Hollywood, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–June 18, 2004–The world’s preeminent Mariachi music marathon the MARIACHI USA Festival, returns to the newly renovated Hollywood Bowl, Saturday, June 26, for its milestone 15th anniversary concert. Doors open at 4 p.m. for picnicking, the concert begins at 6 p.m. culminating with the now traditional, spectacular fireworks finale.

An international cultural fixture, the MARIACHI USA Festival annually presents the highest caliber Mariachis for a four-hour musical event that always brings fans to their feet for standing ovations and to dance in the aisles. The first major festival to present all-female Mariachi ensembles will continue its tradition with the all-female Mariachi Las Alteñas, the crowd-pleasing Campanas de America and new this year Los Arrieros del Valle, all from Texas. From California the ever-popular Mariachi Imperial de Mexico returns and new this year are Mariachi Los Toros. Returning festival favorites include JUNKO, the Japanese female mariachi soloist, Timothy Pollard, “El Charro Negro”, Mauro Calderon, one of Mexico’s most talented tenors and debuting this year is Samuel “Sammy” Hernandez.

This anniversary year will be marked by a special presentation of “M”…Mariachi Passion & Tradition, a new permanent show in Las Vegas. The ensemble cast of stellar musicians and vocalists will present 30 minutes of the best from their Las Vegas show. “M” artists performing will be the 9-year-old singing sensation Maureen, Carlos Marquez, best-known as the voice of Mexico; Rhonda, whose extraordinary voice is earning her a place among the legends; and Ricky, the flamboyant imitator of musical icon Juan Gabriel.

The MARIACHI USA Festival will debut this fall at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on October 2, and for the third year in a row returns to San Antonio, Texas, on October 9, to the Sunken Garden Amphitheatre.
