MINNEAPOLIS–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 26, 2002–A 32-year-old Brooklyn Park man who works in a laundry has won the $100,000 grand prize in the annual MoneyGram “House for Mom” Sweepstakes. Carlos F.(1) came to the United States from Honduras two years ago, and regularly sends money back home to support his parents. A MoneyGram money transfer he sent his parents this spring was selected as the MoneyGram sweepstakes winner.
“This money fell from heaven,” said Carlos. “Now I can finish the house in northern Honduras I’m building for my Mom, and she can live like a queen.”

Carlos, who has elected to receive a single lesser lump sum payment instead of annual installments, will receive his prize at a festive award ceremony at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Cub Foods, 7555 West Broadway in Brooklyn Park where he purchased the winning entry. The public is invited. There will be food, promotional giveaways and music during the presentation of the grand prize check.
Anyone who sent a MoneyGram money transfer outside of the United States between April 14 and May 31 was automatically entered in the $100,000 sweepstakes. MoneyGram also paid out $1,000 prizes to 20 customers from across the United States. There were more than 600,000 entries nationwide.
