Sarasota, FL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–July 3, 2007–The area’s prestigious Sarasota Magazine will highlight Hispanic publisher Luis Eduardo Barón as one of “The 100 most powerful people in town” in their summer issue coming out this week. Barón, publisher of LA GUÍA Magazine and 7DÍAS newspaper, was selected along side such personalities as best selling author Stephen King, famous TV personality Jerry Springer, Congressman Vern Buchanan, Real Estate mogul Michael Saunders, and other religious, civic, government, and business leaders.
Luis Barón was a TV producer in Colombia before arriving in Sarasota eight years ago to begin LA GUÍA Magazine in July 2000. LA GUÍA was considered to be the best Spanish language publication in the US for four consecutive years according to the National Association of Hispanic Publications. In 2002, Barón launched 7DÍAS, the Hispanic newspaper with largest distribution in the Tampa Bay area. In 2005, Ford Motor Co. and AOL Latino selected Barón as one of the top five “Visionarios” in the country. The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce awarded his business as the “Minority Business of the Year” in 2006.
According to Sarasota Magazine, Barón has become the voice of the Hispanic Community in West and Central Florida. Sarasota Magazine has been publishing their list since 1993. The last list, which was published during the summer of 2002, featured Barón listed as one of their “People to Watch”. Sarasota Magazine is the most influential magazine in the area and their list was the result of “several months of research and discussion” according to the publication.
Luis Barón, 48, considers being one of the 100, a great recognition to his work in favor of the Hispanic community. “I am proud to be in the list, not for me, but for my community”.
LA GUÍA AND 7DÍAS are publications of TV Net Media Group, a company based in Sarasota with operations in Florida, Colombia and Canada. La Guía was selected as the best Spanish magazine in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 by the National Association of Hispanic Publications. 7DÍAS was awarded as the most improved publication in 2005, and received three José Martí Gold Awards this year. Both publications, audited by C.A.C, are leaders in the Tampa Bay area.
