Bilingual Site Will Profile Inspiring Latinos And Hispanic Community Organizations; Tenet Healthcare Foundation To Donate $10,000

LOS ANGELES, Calif. September 15, 2003 – Building on its legacy of support to the community, and in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 through October 15), Tenet California will re-unveil its successful EjemplosdeVida.com (“Examples of Life”) website paying tribute to Hispanic community-based organizations across California and the inspiring individuals they serve.

The bilingual site, which launches September 15, will feature 30 Hispanics (representing the 30 days of Hispanic Heritage Month) whose lives have been shaped immeasurably by the community organizations represented on the site, and whose missions are supported by the Tenet Healthcare Foundation (THF).

In a slight shift from last year’s Ejemplos site, which profiled Hispanic caregivers and patients within Tenet’s Los Angeles hospitals, this year’s site will spotlight Hispanic community organizations across the State providing critical services to Latinos, and Hispanics whose lives have been positively transformed by those services.

Each day of the month, the larger community is invited to log onto the site and learn about these individuals’ inspiring personal stories of spirit, and also about the charitable organizations that serve them.

“Hispanic Heritage Month is an appropriate time to pay tribute to the many organizations

across California, and the remarkable individuals they serve, that quietly work their magic in our communities and exemplify a spirit of dedication, courage and service. This new website also gives the larger community a unique way to financially support those missions,” said Stephen Newman, M.D., Chief Executive Officer of Tenet California.

The site will enable the larger community to invest in the missions of these organizations by casting their vote online on October 15th to October 22nd for the community organization that best represents their own ideals of service. The 10 community organizations with the most community votes at the end of the month will each receive a $1,000 donation, for a total Tenet Healthcare Foundation donation of $10,000.

Site visitors will also be able to easily access other online resources, including information about Tenet’s many statewide programs and services created for the Hispanic community, including hospital-specific information.

At the close of Hispanic Heritage Month, Tenet will host an honorary luncheon for the individuals profiled on the site. THF will also make its donation to the selected community organizations during the ceremony.
